Jo Normoyle & Harry Lambis

PEOPLE

Pickles & Rouse is a small Melbourne-based firm established in 2012 by Architect Jo Normoyle and Structural Engineer Harry Lambis.

We are partners in both life and design, and share the importance of balance with work and a family.

It is, however, the love of architecture that remains fluid throughout our lives. We continue to strengthen and redefine our design values through the diversity of our clients, their brief and the daily evolution of our personal life with our overly independent toddler, Evie.

Every site we encounter has a different design response, so it is important to establish how this response can better accommodate the needs of the client for their life-span in the built environment. Whether it be a multi-functional spaces in an inner-city dwelling or redefining the concept of a retreat on the coast. It is the challenge of these macro or micro sites that further enhance our love for architectural response.

We understand that a client’s ‘wants & needs’ will evolve over time. So in turn a space should do so also.

We believe in the importance of emotional awareness within a space and that Architecture should be seen as a fluid motion of design from the internal to external, and all the spaces in between. This is something we love to work on with clients, as the journey is just as important as the destination.

Architecture is about personal response and we look forward our clients experiencing and discovering this over time.
